Deviousness |
This is actually one of my favorite shots, my parents actually had it printed and put on a wall haha, which is nice to see. People who come over think it's professional so that always makes me kinda happy
I just looked, I don't see print enabled for anything. Look, I realize that most artists here probably hardly ever sell anything in this venue, because most artists, like me, already have a ton of art, and not enough walls (my partner and I have a secret weapon, we ROTATE our art through a closet). Still, you may get some interest.
It shows yourself and everyone else that you value your art and your talent. Your work has value. Pick the pieces that get the most attention and your favorite ones, and set them up for print.
Then comes PRICE. Because you are new, you can't really use guild prices, but eventually you will want to get the guide (see below). However, you don't want to give you art away either.
This is what I am thinking, as a base guideline: $0.10 per square inch of canvas:
04" x 06" ( 24 square inches) $ 2.99
08" x 12" ( 96 square inches) $ 9.99
10" x 15" (150 square inches) $14.99
12" x 18" (216 square inches) $21.99
20" x 30" (600 square inches) $59.99
24" x 36" (864 square inches) $85.99
30" x 45" (1350 square inches) $134.99
Pricing art is like pricing real estate, only in the sense that you price using more than one method, and then choose.
First: Your art will have a value to you (it better, or else...). Jot it down per piece. Consider the time and materials put into the piece, plus your value as an artist.
Second: What is the art's value based on a comparison with other similar art and artists (skill level ,fame, popularity).
Third: What is it likely to be worth to prospective buyers. NOTE: Buyers may feel your art is worth $500, but it is only worth $250 what they are willing to pay.

Thanks for showing me all that information
now i'll i gotta find is people wanting to pay $500
The standard prices you get when you have no subscription (like me) is $0.0833 per square inch. I am suggesting you charge $0.10 per square inch, which is not a lot higher.
But please remember that the prices aI gave you were only a suggestion, as a starting point. It is up to you about going higher, and although I personally don't think you should go lower, you can do that to. It is best to pick a $/sq in and apply it evenly to all prices, then round up. some artists always round up to the nearest $5 increment.
The reality is that may be very little response, mostly because most people get exposed to a piece when you first put it up.
PLEASE remember that this is not so much about making money (which is a bonus if it happens) and is more about proving to yourself that you are a legitimate artist selling his own work. I don't want to sound like a Cheerleader (I'm allergic to pom-poms) here. I have been totally honest with you about my assessment of your abilities. The learning never stops, your skills will improve as you continue to CHALLENGE yourself. Also, atists have to sell themselves as well as their work, if they want to make good money.

IMPORTANT
Don't forget that your art is more easily found through the "KEYWORDS" so pump it up. People search using keywords. Put in ALL related words, like watercolor, etc.
Like "Inner Beauty" keywords should include inner, beauty, inner_beauty (?), advertising, flower, young, man, young_man, breaking_apart, fragmentation, transitioning cultures, bright, colors jeans bare chest, photomontage, photo manipulation, splash_of_color, surreal, displacement, etc. Got the picture?
NOTE: I frankly don't know what you do if you want words paired (like photo manipulation), maybe you just put in the separate words. I keep meaning to look into it...

If you really want to sell yourself hard, you add a link to your art to your signature (blurb at he bottom of your comments, or add links in your comments. Seems a bit pushy to me=e but a lot of people do it.
Future challenges: Commissions and assigned work.
now just to do it lol
and naw i don't wanna put links in my sig, too lazy too haha
I made a lot of mistakes in my last reply. It was late. When I write, it comes out scrambled, words and sentences. It takes 3 edits, unless I am rushing, then it shows.
I know its dumb but I would feel embarrassed to put links in.
